The Department of Anesthesiology is proud to note that NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has announced Anesthesiology Resident Robert White, MD, (PGY-1, Class of 2018) as the most recent winner of the “Good Catch” Award. Dr. White is the second Anesthesiology Resident to win the award in the last year.
The Good Catch Award is a bi-monthly award given separately to residents training at the NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center and at NYP/Columbia University Medical Center. The award is designed to promote an atmosphere in which residents keep patient safety at the forefront of their work – by encouraging them to report episodes where members of the Housestaff go outside of normal routines to protect patient health and safety or where they identify processes and systems that could function better.
Dr. White received the award for identifying an error in the EMR (electronic medical record) alert system that was delaying medication deliveries for his patients. Dr. White’s diligence helped fix the error and get his patients the care they needed.
Dr. White joins Jenica Lampl, MD, (CA-1, Class of 2017) as Anesthesiology Residents who have received the Good Catch Award, which is now a little over a year old. The Department of Anesthesiology is proud to have its Residents identified as leaders in patient and quality safety – the key focus in all our educational and clinical programs.
