The New York Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council held its annual Awards Dinner on the evening of Thursday November 13, 2014 and two Department of Anesthesiology Residents – June M. Chan, MBBS and Zachary Turnbull, MD – were among those honored with 2014 Distinguished Housestaff Awards.
Each year, the Weill Cornell Alumni Council presents a Distinguished Housestaff Award to one resident from each department at Weill Cornell and also honors members of the Housestaff Quality Council. Dr. Chan received the departmental award and Dr. Turnbull received the Housestaff Quality Council award. The awards recognize all-around excellence.
The Awards Dinner included the 2014 Distinguished Achievement Award, which was awarded to Dr. John M. Daly, formerly of Memorial Sloan-Kettering and the Weill Cornell Department of Surgery. Speakers during the awards dinner included Dr. Eugene J. Nowak, the President of the Center Alumni Council, Dr. Cam Patterson, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NewYork Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, Dr. Michael G. Stewart, Vice Dean and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Dr. Mark W. Pasmantier, Chair of the Center Alumni Council Fundraising Committee, and Dr. Thomas A. Caputo, Vice President and President-Elect of the Center Alumni Council.
The New York Weill Cornell Medical Center Alumni Council’s Board of Trustees includes two Department of Anesthesiology faculty, Dr. Farida Gadalla and Dr. Vinod Malhotra, both of whom serve as Senior Advisors to the Board. The Center Alumni Council was established in 1976 for the purpose of creating a collegial association for healthcare professionals at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The Center Alumni Council seeks to promote opportunities for interaction for current and former faculty and staff, as well as promoting the educational, research, and clinical missions of the Medical Center.
