On Monday November 3, Klaus Kjaer, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Co-Director of Obstetric Anesthesia, was honored as a recepient of the Physician of the Year Award by the NewYork-Presbyterian Department of Nursing.
The Department of Nursing’s Physician of the Year Award is presented to a small number of physicians each year at five of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital facilities (NYP/Weill Cornell, NYP/Columbia, NYP/Allen, NYP/Westcehster, and the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital). Dr. Kjaer was one of five recipients at Weill Cornell this year. The Nursing Department sponsors the Award in order to recognize “physicians, fellows, house staff and medical students who show competence and caring in the clinical setting and work together with the nurses to attain the highest standards of quality patient care.” Dr. Kjaer was nominated by Barbara Alba, RN.
Dr. Kjaer has been Co-Director of Obstetric Anesthesia here at Weill Cornell since 2004. In 2013, he became Program Director of newly ACGME-accredited fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology. Dr. Kjaer holds his M.D. from the University of California San Francisco and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. Dr. Kjaer joins five other previous Physician of the Year award winners here on the Anesthesiology Faculty.
