Department of Anesthesiology Honors Its Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists as part of National CRNA Week

The Department of Anesthesiology celebrated National CRNA Week during the course of last week by bringing extra attention to the work of its Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and holding its annual CRNA Appreciation Dinner. This year’s dinner was held Wednesday, January 28, at Weill Cornell Medical College’s Griffis Faculty Club. After an engaging reception, numerous speakers expressed their gratitude for the work of the Department’s CRNAs, and the annual presentation of the Eleanor Bradley Award for Outstanding CRNA was made.

Several speakers addressed the audience of CRNAS, physicians, and staff. They included outgoing Director of CRNAs, Dr. Aarti Sharma; incoming Director of CRNAs, Dr. David Kopman; Anesthesiology Chair, Dr. Hugh Hemmings;  Chief CRNA, Julie Moniz, CRNA; Assistant Chief CRNA Keith Denison, CRNA; VP of Perioperative Services for NYP/Weill Cornell, Beryl Muniz, RN; and Anesthesiology Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, Dr. Vinod Malhotra.

Following the remarks, Dr. Malhotra made the presentation of the annual Eleanor Bradley Award for Outstanding CRNA. This year, the award was presented to Kerry Halleran, CRNA. Dr. Malhotra and Eleanor Bradley, CRNA made the presentation to Ms. Halleran, who then offered a heartfelt and gracious acceptance speech.
